President Barack Obama Celebrates His Birthday.

President Barack Obama is planning to fly back home tonight alone for a low-key birthday celebration of his last year in his 40’s.
Mrs. Obama and daughter Sasha are vacationing in Spain and their other daughter, Malia is attending summer camp at this time. Obama is 49 years old. A White House spokesman shared that the president plans to celebrate his birthday quietly with friends and his dog. He spokesman said he is “planning dinner with some friends in Chicago and I think he is looking forward to spending the night in his house for a change. " However, will the paparazzi allow for that? USA Today revealed that the Democrat Party is “putting a big spotlight on the day with a string of mailings, parties, and other fundraising activities paying tribute to the president (and rallying supporters for the November elections)”.

Obama Turns 49 on this Birthday

The Washington Post stated that the Democrats in Austin are throwing a Hawaiian-style luau Wednesday, which will offer a delicacy of scrumptious "tropical fruit, desserts and side dishes." In Phoenix, there will be a "presidential potluck" and a "49 Candles for America" party in Des Moines, Iowa. Among other celebrations for the President’s birthday, there will be a "Yes We Cake!" celebration in Evanston, Illinois. This celebration is the official iPad app organizing for America, Obama's fundraising operation and supporters will bring out their 2008 campaign T-shirts and hats and buttons that show the phrase, "YES WE CAN! YES WE WILL!" They are being worn proudly today by Obama supporters.
Although President Obama will be celebrating his with friends at a small get together, the rest of the country will be celebrating for him, in honor of him, but without his attendance at their gatherings. With such large celebrations this year, we can only imagine what kind of celebratory events will be taking place next year for President Obama, when he hits the huge milestone of turning fifty.
Obama’s 49th birthday will be lower key, we are guessing. His 50th birth anniversary will come at a time when he will be involved in his midterm elections and what a way to leverage the politician’s career than the knowledge and celebration of his 50th year of life. His birthday next year will no doubt be used as a huge leveraging tool for his campaign.
Mrs. Obama wrote this lovely message for her husband, Barack Obama."Every year, our family tries to come up with a fun way to wish Barack a happy birthday. Together with other Organizing for America supporters and me, Malia, Sasha, and Bo, we'll wish him a happy birthday and let him know that we're ready to take on the year ahead alongside him."
In an effort to drum up enthusiasm — and increase membership — the political operatives who run Organizing for America, an activist group devoted to the president, are set to stage hundreds of birthday parties around the country, giving Obama’s day of birth the feel of a holiday

OFA members are being urged to bake birthday cakes, photograph them and send the image to OFA’s website for its blog. A letter from first lady Michelle Obama, posted on the Democratic National Committee website, directs people to the OFA site, where they can sign a “birthday card” for the president.

We don’t, as a country, generally celebrate our politicians’ birthdays. Except for those chosen few — like George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.
Other nations, founded on nationalism, religion or rigid ideologies, reaffirm their existence by glorifying rulers they believe embody these notions. They have constructed palaces to celebrate them during their lifetimes and embalm them in mausoleums to maintain their presence after death
But the United States is built on enduring democratic principles and ideas. Our leaders don’t represent us as the greatest nationalist or the exemplar of an ideology. Our Constitution limits the power of presidents and lawmakers. They are not symbols of the nation but temporary custodians of our freedoms. Power ultimately resides with the people
.
The birthday parties are just the latest manifestation of a kind of worshipfulness that surrounds this president. His image and slogans are everywhere, emblazoned on shirts, hats, posters, walls, bumper stickers and even — uniquely for a sitting present — a few street signs.
Obama has his own organization — OFA — which, though technically housed in the Democratic National Committee, was borne of his 2008 campaign and has allegiance directly to him. A mass political movement loyal to a sitting president, and not to a political party, is without precedent in modern times. Its members — there are said to be 13 million of them, but OFA organizers won’t release the count — can be activated by e-mail at a moment’s notice for political work on behalf of the president or his allies.
